Government Announces Hybrid Vehicles To Be Sold Until 2035
The Government have made changes to the Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate to help ease the UK’s transition to electric cars, revealing that hybrid vehicles can continue being sold after the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel car sales.
In a recently published press release, the Government confirmed the deadline for the phasing out of petrol and diesel cars will remain at 2030, however there will now be an extra 5 years before hybrid vehicles need to stop being sold in 2035. The measures introduced will also exempt small and micro-volume manufacturers from the 2030 phase out, such as supercar brands including McLaren and Aston Martin, preserving some of the UK’s most iconic cars for years to come.
Vans which run on petrol or diesel will also continue to be sold until 2035, which will be good news for commercial dealers and customers who are concerned about the switch to electric.
The article on the Government website also reports that drivers are continuing to switch to electric vehicles, with sales up more than 40% in March compared to the same time last year.
Dragon2000’s car dealer websites can help dealers advertise their electric vehicle stock, with sections in place to highlight the EV’s charging time, range, and battery capacity. Stock can also be searched for with a ULEZ filter to speed up the search for online buyers who are basing their vehicle search off the emission zones.
Our websites are fully integrated with the DragonDMS dealer management system too, so your vehicle details can be pulled instantly from our software to create perfect online adverts at the click of a button.
